Chapter 5-10





Flax is very interesting as a crop. We harvest not only the seeds for oil but also the stems for cloth and textile, so it’s a very multipurpose crop. Some evidence even shows that it’s one of the earliest crops domesticated by us, ever since the stone age. It’s a cool climate crop though and doesn’t grow well in hot and dry places. It possibly originated in the mediterranean region of Europe.
