So there’s a local fable that’s akin to Aesop’s fables, in the sense that they are simple moral tales. Sang Kancil is the name of the titular character, Sang being a term of endearment of sorts while Kancil literally means a mousedeer so the name roughly translates to the little mousedeer. (In the old language however, Sang is used as an honorific meaning “revered”)
